... ABOUT SEMES ... Updated : 1 January 2006 The Société d'Etudes Miltoniennes [ Milton Society of France ] is a non-profit association subject to the Law of 1 July 1901. It is a scholarly organization devoted to the study of the life and works of John Milton, a 17th century English poet and pamphleteer. The Société d'Etudes Miltoniennes was officially founded on 10 April 2004 when published in the "Journal Officiel des Associations." ® Its headquarters are in the care of the Faculté Libre de Théologie Protestante de Paris: 83 Bd Arago - 75014 PARIS - France. It is presided over by Neil Forsyth (Chair of English Literature, University of Lausanne, Switzerland). Christophe Tournu (Associate Professor of English, School of Law, University of Grenoble 2, France) is Secretary and Treasurer to the Society. It currently has 20 members. The Société d'Etudes Miltoniennes co-organized and sponsored the 8th International Milton Symposium in Grenoble (7-11 June 2005).
