Catherine Locatelli has been CNRS Research Fellow at IEPE since 1990.

Her research relates to the reform of the Russian energy sector, and primarily to the reform of the oil and gas industry. She is studying the issue of privatisation, deregulation and price reforms in the hydrocarbon industry, in a specific economic and institutional environment.

She is also studying Russia as a major supplier of hydrocarbons, especially to the European Union, and analysing the consequences of internal developments in the energy industry on the international energy markets. The issue of privatisation of the European gas market and what it holds for Russia has been analysed in particular detail.

Catherine Locatelli also has an interest in relations between Russia and the Caspian Basin in relation to hydrocarbons and the supply of international energy markets.

She holds a Doctorate in Economic Sciences from the University of Grenoble II (1986).
