Jacques Girod

Jacques Girod is Director of Research at CNRS. He is a specialist in energy systems in developing countries, principally in Sub-Saharan Africa. His main themes of research are reforms in the electricity sector, its organisational institution, regulation mechanisms and regional interconnections (participation in the ECOWAS "WAPP" project). He has worked on the modelisation and planning of energy systems in developing countries, in association with research centres in those countries (COPED network). He has been involved in forecasting and planning work in several different countries (Thailand, Brazil, Burundi, Mali, Benin and Mauritania) as a consultant to both national and international bodies. Jacques Girod is a consultant for the French Foreign Affairs Ministry on the subject of energy economics and policy. He manages the Specialised Higher Studies Certificate and the annual training sessions on "Economy and Energy Policy". He holds a
degree from the Institute of Statistics at the University of Paris
and a DEA in Economic Mathematics (1964). |
