Dominique Finon is Senior Research Fellow at the National Scientific Research Centre (CNRS) . He left the Institute of Economics and Energy Policy in 2002.

His current areas of research are:
· The variety of market reforms and the influence of institutional environment.
· The conditions of electricity and gas market integration in various European countries.
· The promotion policies for renewable energy sources in deregulated markets.

He previously conducted and led research into energy sector modelling and into technology policies in energy sector, especially in the nuclear field.


Since 1990 he has been developing research into deregulation reforms in the gas and electricity industry. He has led research projects on the efficiency of European electricity industries, on contractual arrangements for independent production, and on the introduction of third party access into vertically integrated industries.

Dominique Finon was a consultant to the Minister for Industry on several occasions as well as to the European Commission, the Institute for Energy for Francophone Countries and several major businesses in the French energy sector.

He is an Engineer of the École Centrale de Lyon (1971) and holds a Maîtrise d’ Économie (Lyon, 1971), a Post-Graduate Doctorate (specialising in Energy Saving) and a State Economic Sciences Doctorate (1988).
