Originally from Cluj, Romania, I received the Medical Degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj, Romania in 1990. From 1990-1994 I completed residency training in Adult Neurology in the Neurology Department of the General Hospital, Cluj, Romania. After receiving the degree of Neurologist in Adult Neurology in 1994, I had a position as a Neurologist at the Neurological Clinic, Cluj and as an Assistant Professor in Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine, Cluj.

In 1995 I went to France and completed training in Neuroscience at Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble. I received the PhD degree in Neuroscience in 1999. I worked as an Instructor, then as an Assistant Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Faculty of Psychology from Pierre Mendès-France University Grenoble, from 1999 to 2000. Since 2001 I am an Associate Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience at the same Faculty and University.

With respect to my research activity, I am interested to study the cerebral representation and reorganisation (plasticity) of language in healthy subjects and epileptic patients, by using functional MRI. My teaching activity is mainly focused on functional neuroanatomy, clinical neuropsychology and functional neuroimaging methods.

I had several time stays at Washington University in St Louis. First, from July 2001 to December 2001 I worked as a Researcher Associate with Dr Jeff Ojemann (Barnes Jewish Hospital, Neurosurgery department) on mapping language in epileptic patients before surgery. From September 2003 to December 2003 and from March 2007 to July 2007 I worked with Dr Steve Petersen and Dr Brad Schlaggar (Neurology Department), on several language studies in healthy subjects by using fMRI.
